Helping My Grannie

Next week we see my granny. I look forward to visiting her, though she has become a little stubborn in her old age. I won’t embarrass her by sharing her age, but let us simply say she is a lady with thoroughly seasoned wisdom.

I know her daughter just brought by a litter of baby kittens for amusement. Of course, her daughter had to endure an extensive lesson on kitten care. I am sure my granny would have liked to retain a couple of the baby kitties, but they are just too much for her to handle at this stage.

I constantly see something puzzling at her place when I visit. Last time, I discovered several books on penny stocks on her coffee table. My grandmother studying about penny stock trading? That’s bizarre. I wonder what I will find on her coffee table this month.

This year will make for a busy sojourn. I have to put in her new Emtek door knobs and air conditioner filters then repair her garden cart. I likewise need to take her old pot and pan to charity as she just bought a new collection of pots and pans to supplant them. As a reward, she claims to also have purchased the best ice cream maker and the very best of all the electic coffee makers. I appreciate it, but I also must chuckle as she invariably claims to have or utilize only the very best of this or that.

If everything proceeds well, she will use both to serve me some delicious coffee at dawn and ice cream in the afternoon. That sounds like more than pay back enough for my effort. I’m happy to help her out for nothing, but a bit of rich coffee and creamy ice cream doesn’t bother me.
