James: They will ask you for finger prints at your arrival, but they won’t treat you differently.Iranians are fond of forigners and the first thing that comes to mind is Americans. You will find people to be very friendly but unfortunately many won’t be able to talk with you in english. You’ll 100% need a guide. That’s why I think you’ll be accompanied wherever you go to find your way through. The best way to visit Iran is not coming here on your own, but try taking a toure. It’ll be much fun.The best cities to visit are: 1.Tehran 2.Tabriz 3.Isfahan 4.Mashhad 5.Shiraz 6.Kish island 7.shomal (all over the palce is like heaven!) 8.Yazd (as a totally historical place)

Your president stated there are no homosexuals in Iran.
Is that because they were thrown in prison or killed?

    Great blog –
Personally I dont know alot about Iran – but have seen alot of videos and other things that make it look and sound like a horrible place to be in.
Thank you for the other perspective of your country.

My father was in the oil business and we had many Iranian friends before the split in 1979. I dated an Iranian girls and I can tell you that they are very beautiful. One of my best friends is an Iranian born American, he recently returned from a visit to Iran, it is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

As for your President being misquoted, he has had the mike for quite a while, he either gets misquoted every-time he opens his mouth or his is a very dangerous man. It is a fact that he was one of the criminals who stormed the American Embassy and held our people hostage.

It is also a fact that Iran is supplying the insurgents who are attacking our troops in Iraq. It is a fact that Iran harassed one of our Destroyers in a similar manner to the way the USS Cole was attacked. It is a fact that they have threatened our ally with total annihilation. It is also extremely suspicious that a country with huge oils deposits is so keenly interested in “peaceful” nuclear power.

The fact is that the Iranian people are great, humorous and warm. Unfortunately because of your leader you are facing destruction at the hands of the United States. I **** to see it happen but you government is doing things that we cannot risk.

That is being a real patriotic of you for having courage to introduce your beloved country to the rest of the world even there are a lot of negative things coming out about Iran. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

Americans are misinformed about a lot of cultures around the world because they only care about theirselves.

Very interesting blog thanks. I used to date an Iranian guy, he was studying in the UK during the 80’s, a really nice guy. A lot of scare stories about Iran, read a book by Betty Mahmood called ‘Not without my daughter.’ Which was both heartbreaking and interesting but as it was set in 1984 it was sometime ago. I hope you are right and things have changed for the better. We do tend to look at things only from our own perspective and I agree many of our laws and ways must seem very alien to you and who are we to say ours are right and not yours?

    Thank you

That was a refreshing an interesting read
We all realise the media is full of hype and nonsense, but we need some genuine information to dispel many of the myths.

Obviously, recent events in the Gulf, involving UK sailors being held and humiliated by Iran have not helped our image of your country. I believe we are intelligent enough to know the people of Iran are as good or evil as anywhere else in the world.

Edit: one thing worries me….the power of the Supreme Leader, what effect on the reformists?

You just confirmed what I already suspected. Loving families, people that do not want war, young beautiful people that want to continue their lives journey, have families, and live in peace…just like America…everyone needs to scratch the greedy govts and thank you for sharing a small piece of your beautiful culture. Together perhaps we can stop the madness.
